Production: This is what makes our bags special
Inspired by the iconic styles of the 19th and 20th centuries, we focus on sustainability and longevity. We use natural materials and certified leather that would have been available 100 years ago. Our products are created using traditional craftsmanship in fair, certified production facilities.
Our product philosophy
1. Timeless design
2. Real craftsmanship
3. Authentic material
4. Fair production
Timeless design
We get inspiration for our product design from our travels, history books and historical travel reports. In order to revive the iconographic design of the 19th and 20th centuries, we combine original craftsmanship with the current zeitgeist. Each product goes through a multi-stage design process to ensure the highest possible functionality and quality. Our timeless design helps ensure that our products can be used for a long time. With slow fashion, we contribute to conserving resources.
Honest craftsmanship
Cutting
Our high-quality leather skins and cotton fabrics are cut precisely, whereby we ensure optimal material consumption and avoid leftovers. Even the few leather scraps that arise are still used - for small applications or our accessory collections.
Patination
In this production step, parts of our leather are given our signature patina - an almost artistic process. We use a high-quality leather dye based on carnauba wax for this. This first patina is then further enhanced and individualized with each journey.
Sewing
Our bags are sewn partly by hand, partly by machine and partly with historical tools. The bags are given their final shape. This step is the only one in the entire production chain that is carried out using machines. The thick leather that gives our bags their stability requires an enormous amount of effort to process, which only special sewing machines have.
Packaging
The required metal parts are also manufactured according to our design specifications. They are made almost entirely from brass and after production they are given a special antique finish, which is applied to the metal using a galvanic process. The metal parts are produced by machine, but they are attached to the bag by hand.
Quality control
After production, each bag is examined for errors and quality defects. Particular attention is paid to checking the seams. Our manufacturing process produces only one-of-a-kind items - no two products are the same. The characteristics that make each piece unique include color variations and shades. This is our statement against uniformity, towards products with soul that are just as unique as their owner.
Certified
Fair production
The production of our goods takes place in India, in the area around New Delhi.
Our factory is a small family business whose long-standing employees make our bags with a lot of heart and passion. Craftsmanship has a long tradition here and is passed down from generation to generation. Since we visit the site regularly and several times a year, our long-term collaboration has now developed into a real friendship.
Precisely because we respect the dignity of every person, we attach great importance to ensuring that all workers are paid fairly and justly and that their families are well looked after. Our factory has been regularly audited according to the SEDEX standard for years. We can therefore guarantee compliance with fair working conditions and occupational health and safety.
