A touch of Hollywood
Drakensberg bags have made it to Hollywood again! Our bags were used as main props in the Apple TV production "Constellation." Filming began in July 2022 and concluded in February 2023. Filming took place in various locations, including Berlin, Bavaria, Brandenburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Denmark, and Morocco, as well as in the municipality of Inari in northern Finland.
The series "Constellation"
"Constellation" is a science fiction series starring Noomi Rapace and Jonathan Banks. In it, astronaut Jo returns to Earth after a horrific incident in space. There, she realizes that parts of her life no longer correspond to her memories.
Jo (Noomi Rapace) is an astronaut on the International Space Station, where she studies the long-term effects of working in space alongside other astronauts from NASA, ESA, and Roscosmos. One day, however, a serious accident occurs on the ISS, and Jo almost doesn't survive.
Only with great difficulty does Jo make it back to Earth, where she can embrace her husband Magnus (James D'Arcy) and daughter Alice (Davina and Rosie Coleman) again after a long absence. However, something seems to be wrong with her. Since her return, parts of Jo's life no longer seem to match her memories, and she is plagued by strange visions. While the ESA questions Jo's mental state, she embarks on a desperate search for answers about what really happened to her in space.
Background & information about Constellation
The sci-fi thriller series "Constellation" was developed by Peter Harness, who has written scripts for series such as "The War of the Worlds" and "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell." In April 2022, the project received an official series order from Apple TV+.
Principal photography for "Constellation" began in Berlin in summer 2022 and continued until spring 2023. The series was filmed on location in Berlin, Brandenburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria, Denmark, Finland, and Morocco. The eight episodes of the first season were directed by Michelle MacLaren, Oliver Hirschbiegel, and Joseph Cedar.
The series "Constellation" premiered on February 21, 2024, on Apple TV+, where the eight episodes were released weekly for the first time until March 27, 2024.

A total of 16 bags were needed during filming – four copies of each of the four main props, so that one was available on each set.
